Veterans have been a critical part of the nuclear energy field since its inception. Armed services have long used nuclear energy to power ships and submarines, leading to a well-trained military workforce that can use their expertise to advance the private sector.

TerraPower recognizes the important role veterans have in shaping the advanced nuclear field through energy and medical applications. The veterans who work here utilize their prior service to add value to TerraPower’s mission.

My time as a nuclear submarine officer aboard the USS Will Rogers (SSBN-659) and the USS Boise (SSN 764) was the foundation for my passion for nuclear energy and its future potential. TerraPower hires veterans because their experiences are an asset to innovation. I am proud that my company employs talented veterans who work with their nuclear peers from national labs, academia and the private sector on a mission to develop the next generation of nuclear energy.

As a company, TerraPower regularly engages with organizations and associations that work directly with veterans. We participate in a variety of recruitment efforts, events and strategic partnerships aimed at accelerating opportunities for veterans to play an active role in the advanced nuclear field.

Additionally, TerraPower is a part of the U.S. Department of Defense’s SkillBridge internship program, an opportunity for active-duty service members to gain valuable civilian work experience with us during their last 180 days of service. SkillBridge is a great opportunity for transitioning service members to build their resumes, explore employment interests, develop job skills and gain valuable work experience that will help them prepare for their adjustment to the workplace.
